According to Glassdoor, the average salary in the US for a Data Scientist is $103k.
For a Senior Data Scientist, this goes up to $130k.
On top of the base salary, there can very often be very strong bonuses and stock options available as well.
In terms of progression, if you want to remain hands-on, you can move into roles such as Lead Data Scientist, Principal Data Scientist, and Chief Data Scientist.
If you want to move into leadership, there are roles waiting for you such as Data Science Manager/Director and then up to VP of Data Science, and Head of Data Science.
